Winhold was incorporated in the Republic of South Africa on 29 September 1945 and operates as an investment holding company. The company was listed on the main board of the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) under the Industrial Goods and Services sector up until October 2017, as a result of the change in ownership of the organisation.

Winhold (Pty) Ltd was purchased by Wafima Manufacturing and Distribution (Pty) Ltd, which is 100% owned by CEO and executive chairman Zola Fubu, making both Winhold (Pty) Ltd and Wafima Manufacturing and Distribution (Pty) Ltd 100% black owned investment holding entities.

Winhold's main investments are:

1. 100% in Inmins Limited which operates a network of businesses in South Africa which supply mainly consumer goods to the mining and industrial supplies industries.

2. 100% in Gundle Limited which manufactures and distributes polyethelene and polypropeylene bags, sheeting and packaging to the agricultural, chemical, construction, food processing, industrial and consumer markets.

3. 50,1% in Novara Profile Extrussions (Pty) Ltd, which manufactures and distributes pallets and other products made out of recycled polyethylene terephthalate polymer (PET) bottles.

The annualised turnover of the group exceeds R994 million, and the group employs over 900 people.
